A Weekend in Jardín: 2-Night Itinerary

A Weekend in Jardín: 2-Night Itinerary

*Two nights is the sweet spot — enough to explore the town and its surroundings, and still have time to do absolutely nothing.*

If one day in Jardín leaves you wanting more, two nights let you go beyond the center: coffee farm tours, waterfalls, mountain hikes, and a culinary scene that keeps surprising. This itinerary combines the essentials with experiences that only unfold when you have a little more time.

## Day 1: The Town & Its Classics

### Morning

**Breakfast at Plantación Cocina** (included in your rate). Start with a calentao paisa or plantain and yuca waffles with cured trout — vegan and gluten-free options available.

**Coffee at CHABOLA** — the creators of the delicious spiced cold brew we serve at the hotel. One of the most interesting independent coffee brands in the region. Order the spiced cold brew — it’s their signature.

**Parque Principal El Libertador** — walk the streets of the historic center, admire the colonial facades, and feel the pulse of the town on foot.

### Midday

**Lunch at Trascender – Cocina Local** — author cuisine with local ingredients, ferments, and distinctive flavors. One of Jardín’s most interesting restaurants for those looking for something different.

### Afternoon

**Reserva Natural Jardín de Rocas** (4:30 – 5:30 PM) — unmissable. The Andean cock-of-the-rock birds sing and display at this hour. Arrive a few minutes early to find a good spot.

**Gelato at Cocoa Café Francés** — authentic gelato recipe with local flavors.

### Evening

**Dinner at Rosalía de Jardín** — bistro with shareable plates, good wines, and music. Perfect for the first night.

## Day 2: Nature & Coffee

### Morning

**Breakfast at Plantación Cocina** — try something different from yesterday. The Banana Boat French toast or eggs any style are great options.

**Coffee farm tour: Café Historias** (9:00 AM – 12:00 PM) — a guided experience at a working coffee farm showing the entire process from cultivation to cup. Several farms offer tours (also Finca Cafetera Los Ángeles and Finca Carrizales). Ask us and we’ll point you in the right direction based on availability.

### Midday

**Lunch at Revolución Bananera** — the creators of the fantastic Chimpbanana you found in your room. They serve delicious vegetarian and vegan dishes. The chickpea stew and the hash brown are must-tries.

### Afternoon — Choose Your Adventure:

**Option A: Cascada del Amor** — an accessible hike from town. Contact Montañeros Viajes y Aventuras or Destino Montaña for guides if you prefer company.

**Option B: La Garrucha** — a traditional cable car that crosses the river. A short but exciting experience with great views.

**Option C: Mirador Cristo Rey** — if you didn’t make it on Day 1, this is the afternoon. Panoramic valley views, yuca arepas, and grilled plantain at the top.

### Before Dinner

**Massage at Llama Mística** (advance booking required) — hands down the best massages you’ll experience in Jardín. They also offer alternative therapies including human design and tarot readings. Book ahead.

### Evening

**Dinner at Café Europa de Jardín** — the best pizza in Jardín, with wine and a relaxed atmosphere facing the main square.

**Dessert at Mariela Pastelería** — our favorite pastry shop. The macarons are exceptional and the coffee is delicious. A small, intimate spot full of flavor.

## Day 3: Departure Morning

**Breakfast at Plantación Cocina** — your last breakfast. Make it count.

**AveCafé** — before you leave, stop by this café whose beans we serve at the hotel. Take a bag home — it’ll remind you of Jardín every morning.

**Dulces del Jardín** — if you want something sweet as a souvenir, this is where you’ll find the town’s traditional sweets.

## Practical Tips

– **Book in advance** your coffee farm tour and massages at Llama Mística — they fill up, especially in high season.
– **Wear comfortable clothes and walking shoes** — Jardín is a town of steep streets and trails.
– **Cash is still useful** — some smaller places don’t accept cards.
– **Bring your tote bag** — at Hotel Plantación we lend you one for your shopping around town.
